In a conversation with the INELO expert, inspectors of the German transport inspection BAG confirmed that the first checks of taking the regular weekly rests (45h) by the drivers in cabs are already being carried out.

These checks are aimed at working out an effective inspection practice and educating drivers and companies. For the time being, their frequency is limited and fines are imposed only in extreme situations.
This transitional period will continue until the end of August. After this date, intensive inspections in this area are planned. The information we received also shows that, despite the new table of penalties still remains unpublished, maximum fines for regular weekly rest in the cab are 500 euros for the driver and 1,500 euros for the company.
